Two Nabbed For Impersonating EFCC Officials

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said today it has arrested two suspects, Tanimu Abubakar (also known as Ibrahim) and Mohammed Yaba, for allegedly parading themselves as officials of the Commission.
Abubakar and Yaba were picked up in Abujaon Tuesday when they showed up at the Federal Capital Territory Authority offering to assist a director of the agency to kill a petition allegedly written against him, the EFCC said in a statement. Following contact made with the commission, the suspects were arrested.
The statement described the arrests as the latest in “rising incidences” of impersonation of EFCC officials by fraudsters who use fake letterheads to write bogus invitation letters to members of the public.
“Some citizens with issues to hide have unwittingly fallen victims to these fraudsters,” the statement said. “Most victims usually do not report to the Commission and some go away with the erroneous impression that the fraudsters are bona fide officials of the EFCC.”
It implored members of the public to report any solicitation for gratification by any person claiming to be an official of the EFCC to the Commission or the nearest police
station.

What Would Make You Quit A Relationship?

PURPOSE OF THREAD: To know the relationship misdemeanours nlanders consider tantamount to a break up.

BODY OF THREAD: As human beings,it's not always easy to forgive and forget whenever we are wronged, especially by people we've come to love and admire so much.

So,what is that/those thing(s) that would make you dislike your partner so much as to quit your relationship with him or her?

As for me,i would never tolerate infidelity. The mere thought of my woman finding pleasure in another man's arms makes me "super-pissed".

Let's hear from you...

Man Marries Mother-in-law After Death Of Wife

A man and his mother-in-law defied all social norms and got married two years after the death of the late’s wife,Metro News report
Judah Magarasadza’s wife Rozie Gopoza died in 2008 and two months later his mother-in-law Felistus Gopoza came to his life.

The two loved each other until they were wedded in 2010.On a sad note ,both the families of these norm and religious law breakers refused to attend their reception.
From 2010 to December last year, the two were living as husband and wife. In 2010 ,the man died but the woman was barred from the from the funeral by her husband’s relatives who vehemently told her that they did not recognise her relationship with their son.

“She was thrown out. Anyway who would blame them? They were very right in doing so. What kind of a relationship is that,” blasted the source.

GUYS, WHAT DO U THINK?

Man Stays In Tree For 9-months After Wife Refuses To Apologize

An Indian man has spent nine months living in a TREE because his wife refuses to say sorry for cheating on him.

The man, known only as Sanjay, walked in on his partner and a next-door neighbour in their Mumbai home.

And when she refused to apologise he climbed a nearby guava tree and has been there ever since.

The 25-year-old has survived on a diet of fruit from the tree and food handed up by relatives.

"He eats and sleeps on the tree and even relieves himself from there," his sister told The Asian Age newspaper.

Police have said they can't intervene because he hasn't committed an offence.

A spokesman for Cholapur police confirmed: "The man is on a tree top for the last nine months over some domestic dispute."

Sanjay's wife has since returned to live with her parents - and has still not said sorry.

Main Reasons Many Are Refused VISA

A lot of people make the mistake of making deposits into their bank accounts prior to visa application; this action is called "Money Lodegement" which is an express ground for visa refusal: Do not naively commit this violation (by depositing lump sums of money into an account which apparently stands in isolation) for presentation purpose.

Such account does not meet the requirement of an acceptable bank statement so, applying for a visa with it will only give you a definite result,REFUSAL.

This is how it works; An acceptable bank statement must have up to six months transaction records demonstrating your income (from verifiable sources) and expenditures, and it must have good enough fund to sustain your trip and intentions, and also; it must have enough balance to keep you going after the trip: preferably, a Savings account, Salary account or Wages account:
Importantly, you must be able to satisfy your Visa Officer that you have somewhat of an obligation or home tie to return to Nigeria for.
I regret to say that until your bank statements meet the standard format as explained, you will continue to get refused no matter how many times you applied or how much money you have in your accounts

For those considering the use of sponsor, know that there are very few circumstances in which it may be considerable for an adult applicant to use a sponsor, such sponsor may be a Spouse (especially for Family Reunion) or Parents/Guidance (especially for Education) etc. But if you are considering the use of a Company's account, that would be unacceptable (even if you own the company). For a company's sponsorship to be acceptable, you would need to be applying for a training or a course, or a seminar etc that would be deemed profitable to your company in order to satisfy the visa officer of the purpose otherwise, it would be judged that the money in the company's account is not available for your use: unless your company is offering you a complimentary vacation under its care.
And as an adult, you are supposed to be financially independent to meet the requirement for a tourist or pleasure visa; for example, you can't be sponsored by anyone if your intended travel is for the purpose of tourism or romance rather than official or family visit: a presentable account has to meet the requirements and the formation of the bank statement that is acceptable as explained in the bolded part of the above paragraph

I decided to add this (my earlier) post since it continues to happen that many people still find themselves in this unfortunate situation, and I thought i should lay emphasis to save people's money.
This informational advice is for country-men and women who continue to bin their thousands of Naira attempting to obtain the UK or the US visas while being unaware that they are under a ban for ten years or for life respectively.
Have you ever been refused a UK visa on the basis of fraudulent, fake, or misleading documents or even serious sensitive misinformation? If so, then apply for a UK visa no more, keep your application fees and try for other countries.
If you committed this act before the 10 years ban came into effect, as long as your finger-prints were taken, you would get the ban on your next visa application: only those who committed it before finger-print era are free from this merciless punishment
It is unfortunate that, except you take measures, you might not be able to find out whether you carry the ten years ban based on fraudulent or misleading documents presentation or, false declaration; this is the unfair method that the UK embassy uses to punish individuals who had attempted to use fake or misleading documents to obtain their visa: they allow them to re-apply unaware of the ban while they extract the visa application fee from the unsuspecting applicants.
If you are unsure of your ban/no-ban status, you are entitled to the rights of knowing your eligibility for the UK visa after refusal and the staff are oblige to let you know. But however, if you wish to make subsequent application, you can inquire before making your payment: ask them to inform you of your status before paying the visa fee, it is their duty to notify you of it if you ask them even during fresh application.
These said, another way (perhaps the most effective way) that you can find out is your own intuition, you should know whether you were detected presenting any fake, fraudulent or misleading documents or serious sensitive misinformation to support your previous application. And if you were, then, there is no two ways about it, you've just been banned (unaware) for ten good years. Period.

The sad truth is: you did not receive the ban from making subsequent applications, but rather you received the ban from obtaining a UK visa of any category. So, it is up to you to apply a hundred or a thousand times while under a ban, but you will never be given a visa except after the ten years ban expires.
There was this case of a Nigerian visa applicant who was refused a visa for reason of forged documents that he presented in his previous application; after some time, he eventually came clean in his new application, but still he was refused a visa on the basis of the "fraud documents" that he submitted in his previous application. Yet, the cruel visa officer did not advise the mugu applicant that he was under a ban, but the country-man who obviously found no reason for his recent refusal was wise enough to ask about his chance of getting the visa in future application, and then the visa officer was obliged to let him know that he had been under a ban even before his recently denied application was made.
Now, had this countryman known that he was under a ban, he wouldn't have spent his hard-earned money all through that stress and trouble to apply for a visa that will never be issued him?

So, considering the fact that at the UK embassy, over 9000 (detected) fraudulent documents were submitted in just one year, I wish to request that this thread be kept alive so that others would see it and avoid binning their money, this thread can save millions or even billions of Naira.

NOTE 1: The same applies to the USA visa application, but considering the LIFE BAN that you can get if caught with fake or misleading documents or misinformation, the UK 10 years ban is merciful.

NOTE 2: For expectant mothers; know that it is a serious violation to conceal pregnancy during visa application, and it is even more serious to give birth in a country if your visa is not issued on medical ground: and worse still, to deny the awareness.
And unlike the merciful 10 years ban that is applicable with the UK, You may never be issued a US visa again, this violation MAY attract a life ban from the USA depending on circumstances and judgement

NOTE 3: I am not a Travel or "Visa" agent. And if anyone tells you that he is a visa agent, run away from the person because, most of the people who get into bans are those who solicit the services of syndicates who profess themselves "visa agents".
YOU CAN APPLY FOR THE VISAS YOURSELVES, and you will be sure of the documents that you use. But if you solicit (the so called) visa agents for assistance, you might not know when fake or tempered documents are added to your application, and the result will be a LIFE BAN from the USA.

EKUMEKU WAR, WARRIORS AND CENOTAPH.

History

Resistance was strong in western Igboland where a series of wars were waged against the British. The Ekumeku, who were well organized and whose leaders were joined in secrecy oaths, effectively utilized guerrilla tactics to attack the British. Their forces, which were drawn from thousands of Igbo youth from all parts of igboland, created many problems for the British, but the British used forceful tactics and heavy armaments (destroying homes, farms, and roads) to prevail. The Ekumeku, however, became a great source of Igbo nationalism.
The Ekumeku Movement is unique in Igbo history for two reasons. First, the length of time the movement endured, comprising Military campaigns over a period of thirty one years. Secondly it is the outstanding example in Igbo Civilization of an attempt to unite previously disunited states to resist the invader. You have seen that one crucial reason for Igbo defeat was the great discrepancy of scale between the average Igbo community and the colonial invader. The British decided on a preemptive strike, and in December, 1902 sent a powerful expedition which systematically destroyed a number of towns and imprisoned their leaders. This, it was assumed, was the end of the Ekumeku.."the Ekumeku and other secret societies have been completely broken".
In 1904, the Ekumeku rose again. This time the changed their tactics, mistakenly, it would seem in retrospect, abandoning the united guerilla warfare of 1898 for the individual defense of each town. The last act of the Eureka drama began in late 1909. The occasion was a succession dispute in Ogwashi-Uku. One of the claimants, Nzekwe, the son of the last Obi, feared that the British would deprive him of his throne, and decided to fight for his inheritance.
On November 2, 1909, the British sent an expedition to Ogwashi-Uku to kill everyone in Ogwashi-Uku but they failed in the expedition. The British perceived, in the whole Asaba hinterland, a sympathy with the Ekumeku, and a disposition to throw off government authority. In 1911, there was a final round-up of Ekumeku leaders in various towns that was followed, once more, by imprisonments.
The acting lieutenant-governor of the southern provinces sent an agitated telegram to Lagos: "Whole country is above area...is the state of rebellion." Reinforcements arrived from Lokoja, and the British proceeded to a confrontation at Akegbe. We quote both the contemporary British accounts of the battle at Nkwo market.

The war

With the invasion of Ndoni in 1870 and bombardment of Onicha-Ado (Onitsha) on November 2, 1897, the stage was set for the Ekumeku war that engulfed the whole of western Igbo region. The Royal Niger Company (RNC) commandered by Major Festing engaged Ibusa in 1898, and in 1904 it was the people of Owa/Ukwunzu against the British in a war that W. E. B. Crawford Coupland requested for more arms to crush the western Igbo communities. Owa would once again engage the British in 1906 in battle that S. O. Crewe lost his own life. On November 2, 1909, it was finally the turn of Ogwashi-Ukwu who matched the British. In this war the British sustained many casualties with the death of H. C. Chapman.

Aftermath

Although the Ekumeku failed in 1914, but the western Igbo treasure their memory as imperishable legacy. Heroes included Dunkwu Isus of Onicha-Olona, Nwabuzo Iyogolo of Ogwashi-Ukwu, Awuno Ugbo, Obi of Akumazi, Agbambu Oshue of Igbuzo, Idabor of Issele-Ukwu, Ochei Nwayazia of Onicha-Olona, Abuzu of Idumuje-Unor, Idegwu Otokpoike of Ubulu-Ukwu are still remembered in Western Igboland. The Ekemeku War is one of the greatest resistances to the British empire and inspired later rebellions such as the Mau Mau of Kenya.

PENNY WISE, POUNDS FOOLISH BY Anthony Okezi

Between 2008/9, I was in Katsina State for a compulsory one year N.Y.S.C assignment, then former President Yar'Adua was in power. Silent massive building of model schools were going on. As many that were commissioned under my nose, no public national figure was “flew in” with state scare resource to commission them. Rather, it was the Education Commissioner/Gov Shehu Shema that did all the commissioning!
Yesterday I could not but weep for Father Xmas Delta State when a Dana Airline was hire with a lavish ceremony to bring in Dr. Bamaga Turku from Abuja, just to commission a “MODEL” primary school in Asaba (I believe the cost of commissioning the school will be more than the cost of building the school).
I then asked myself what is the state trying to achieve in such a wasteful ceremony? Is building of primary now a“landmark” achievement? Or is Gov EEU trying to impress Dr. Bamaga Turku ahead of 2015? In all, I could not find a reasonable answer for such a waste of our common wealth! Why are we so wasteful in the management of public funds while there are other problems such as unemployment (this has thrown many of our vibrant youths into all sorts of social vices) and infrastructural deficits. I pray that US President Barack Obama will not be brought in to commission the gate of Delta State University Engineering Faculty!

Okezi, u shld knw by now dat it is Delta state style. Fun fairs, elaborate ceremonies dat are meaningless . Wastefulness of resources. Yet contracts dat did as little as a 1m to 5m can't be paid. We all knw is a joint tin with abt 17 states, remodeling of schools. Rivers state Gov Amechi embarked on remodeling of schools since 1st tenure. No noise president, vice president or whoevr were flown in a ceremonial kiniko to commission even 1. This same govt dat is preaching d gospel of no money let's borrow to manage is same dat embarked on frivolous ceremonies at time like dis? Hmmm

@Okezi, you have a point there but I still believe that the man came on a working visit to the state. Perhaps the Project commissioning was just one of the items in the itinerary.

Flying in Tukur to commission ordinary Model school is just a misplaced priority. Rivers State have build more model school which are now operational without fanfare. If you build an Model Primary school and you are inviting a oil subsidy criminal like Tukur to come and commission it at the espense of the state, then what will happen when you build a University? maybe they will fly in Queen Elizabeth. The Delta state government should bury her head in shame. its obvious the State government is bereft of ideas and a zombie. make i sing fella song, "Zombie o zombie, zombie o zombie. zombie no go go unless you tell am to go, Zombie. Tell me to go there e, Dozia adoro ho...."
